A well-tuned HQ-180AC with noise immunizer is a sweet deal. I had one
for several years before finally selling it about 2 years back. That
being said, I found my SP-600 to be better for MW DXing as the crystal
phase did a terrific job of dropping off adjacent stations. When I was
in Montreal, I managed to pick up Saudi Arabia on 1521 kHz and had to
contend with Buffalo on 1520 kHz. My R-390A and HQ-180AC couldn't
quite get rid of the slop from Buffalo but the SP-600 dropped it out
nicely.

I have a National NC-125 with a Q Multiplier.
At one time, I considered adding a Q-Multiplier to the HQ-180AC but
never got around to it. I did have a HC-10 hooked into the SP-600 and it
was a fairly good combo but I had problems with audio pops coming off
the HC-10.
I've only used Hammarlunds and the Motorola R-390A and did pick up any
more boatanchors.
How is the National NC-125?
