Yes, it does. It should make you reassess your assumptions about the
police in Okland. Perhaps the cops have become bigger thugs than
Mixon. If it can happen in Oakland it can happen elsewhere.
The State of California passed Laws to allow the
Police and Fire Departments along with other
City Employees NOT to be Citizens and Residents
of the very Cities that they Serve and Draw a
Paycheck from. So 90% OPD is made-up of
Officers that do not live in the Community and
are not part of the Community that they serve.
They OPD Officers Families do not reside in
Work and go to schools in the City. The OPD
Officers draw their Pay Checks from the City
but do not contribute to the City and reinvest
their incomes within the Community.
The first words out of a OPD Officer's mouth
are "You People" meaning any and all Citizens
{Residents} of the City of Oakland : White,
Black, Hispanic, Asian, Male Female and other.
The OPD views itself as separate and apart
from the Citizens {Residents} of Oakland that
they are Paid to Serve.
NOTE - It does not matter about the Race or
Nationality of the OPD Officer be they : White,
Black, Hispanic, Asian, Male, Female and other.
Within a few years they all get the "You People"
mentality.
The OPD Officers relationship with the Citizens
of Oakland can be viewed akin to the relationship
of the British Troops in Northern Ireland. For the
most part the OPD is a Foreign Occupational Army
Oppressing the Citizenry.
The OPD and the Citizens of the City of Oakland
is just one example of what is wrong in America's
Cities where the Police do not come from the
Community and are not part of the Community.
But then again the vast majority of Oakland's City
Employees don't reside in the City either and the
Citizens of Oakland's Tax Money is Exported Outside
the City everyday and every week draining the City
of it Capital and Economy.
FWIW - Sand Francisco has the same problem
with it's City Employees; but overall SF has a Net
Job Gain with it's daily influx of Private Business
Employees and thus can Balance it Tax Rolls,
Capital Expenditures and Full Economy. The City
of Oakland does not have that Net Job Gain and
Exports more Jobs and Income to other Communities
within the SF Bay Area then it receive in return.
The Net Result is that each Oakland City Job
is a negative drain on the Oakland Economy.
