And I've had the flu only once (1981) since then.

I get flu shots every year. No ill effects.



The one I got about 25 years ago, I felt ok for about 1 week or so, then
was just miserable for about 10 days. Last one, about maybe 10, was even
worse, chills, sweats, and I just was wanting to sleep through it, but I
couldn't, even loaded up on Nyquil, or even Actifed, which just about
puts me into a coma. I've had the flu a couple times since, and none of
them approached being as bad as the three times I got a shot, so I pass
on them.

I quit getting the flu when I began to refuse the shots
the VA was encouraging everyone to take annually.
Only time I've ever had pneumonia in my life
was after I had the Merck Pneumovax 23 shot.
Never again!
I would be very surprised if I get as much as a slight trace of bird,
swine, hong kong, or any variety of flu because I get a routine mild
immunizing exposure to all manner and strains of whatever the walking
vectors come carrying with them as they enter from our neighbor to the
south.



Last time I had it was in January, and I had the chills on and off for
two days, and other than that, it was like any normal cold. Not a huge
deal, but I really hate those chills.

Well, I'm still going to pass on the shot.
