Jeb Bush sez it's time to throw Reagan under the bus

Well that sure sounds messy and very stinky.
As Ronald Wilson Reagan is probably the most reputable and popular
modern Republican figure, living or dead, it would seem to be
extraordinarily foolish to cut ties with his legacy. (Note I said
"modern".)
It's almost as if the modern Republic Party is hell-bent on self-
destruction as it drives out or purges moderates from their ranks and
spirals in tighter and tighter circles around an ever-smaller and
steadily-more lunatic "base".
An astute observer might note that the lunatics have taken over the
asylum, and if the halfway-reasonable Republics don't regain control
of their party, it's going to slide into oblivion as a party of
Christo-supremacists (e.g. R. J. Rushdoony), radical anti-government
extremists, racists, xenophobes, hatemongering bigots, and others on
the extreme edge of American life, and then dumping Reagan will be
necessary, not because Reagan's legacy is no longer relevant or
useful, but because looking at it honestly would damn and condemn what
the Republicans have become.
