What are the clusters of white spots that have shown .. flares ?

It looks like the sun spots have formed a small prominence in the
photosphere at those points. The magnetic lines are not twisted much so
the loops are extending outward into the photosphere instead of causing
a slightly cooler spot with twisted lines nearer the surface.
You get flares when highly twisted magnetic lines break and reconnect
into a less twisted forms. That process causes the matter on the sun's
surface to get scattered and blown off into space.
We are colliding with a giant interstellar "cloud". We do not know how
this will affect our ability to repel cosmic rays. We may all start
glowing like the Baby Jesus.

I mentioned this a while back. This "cloud" together with the suns lower
wind velocity is shrinking the heliopause, which is closer to the sun on
the collision side with the cloud. I think we are already seeing the
results of cloud penetration into the solar system, which has been
driving up temperatures on all the planets through improved thermal
conduction of the space between the sun and planets.
