Thanks for quick reply Owen. Guess I took the Sevick single toroid
design as authoritative. I will move to a 2 core configuration, which,
in my case, is more intuitive to begin with. Also bookmarked your
page. Good stuff!

Oh well, lots of people have built them and assert that they "work", but
that goes to the meaning of "works" more than anything.

I think there are even commercial single core implementations of
Guanella's 4:1 balun, but then there is a lot of snake oil in that
industry!

If you make one on a medium µ core and measure it, it is clear that it
doesn't "work" where "work" means that the currents in the output leads
are approximately equal but opposite in direction.
