Edison did neither. Making electricity a mass commodity required using
alternating current in order for transformers to work. Edison fought
long and hard to PREVENT alternating current from happening. He had too
much money tied up in an inefficient system and wanted to delay progress
for sake of profit. Only after Tesla went to Westinghouse did Edison
smarten up.

Radio, along with AC, can be credit more to the likes of Tesla.
Actually, Fessenden, Tesla and a whole lot of others get the credit for
radio.

There was quote attributed to Edison, which went:

"Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration"

Now, Edison never said that, but someone asked Tesla about the alleged
quote.

Tesla replied that had Mister Edison gotten better schooling, he
wouldn't have had to perspire so much.
