It would be nice to see an HD 'build your own' from Radio Shack.
Never gonna happen.

Like DRM, HD would require a licensing fee for the decoding
algorithm. "Build Your Own" would have to come in a pre licensed kit
form. 'The Shack' is interested in serving neither the market for
kit builders, nor the HD radio market enough to take on that cost.

Like all SCA in the late 60's and early 70's, HD is a novelty to
those with the kit building mentality, and not of any real
substance. I built an SCA adaptor kit back then. It was amusing to
hook into the back of my 10 transistor FM radio and get something
other than the baseband audio, but never provided any serious
listening. Just about everyone had one of those SCA adaptor kits in
their catalogs back then. And Popular Electronics, and Popular
Science had instructions for rolling your own. Never caught on.

Rather than going to the trouble of building a Ramsey Kit
it was much easier to simply find a donated SCA box at a thrift shop
where granny had passed and the kids just said call Goodwill.
I've found several over the years, even one of the Muzak boxes.
With the KPBS Radio Reading Service playing low by the bedside
I could wake up with all the days news subliminally infused.

That's exactly why I generally go to bed with the GE SR I playin' low by my
side.

I got's it on WLS 890 where I get's infused by Hannity, Levin, and after the
ghost hunter crap is over I get's da Midnight Truckin' crew.

I get's infused, baby!

WTF?
I grew up in Chicago with WLS 890 clear channel rock and roll competing
with WJJD louder rock and roll.
As to the kids who dis their granny and family heirlooms, **** on 'em.
G'night.
