IRTS Committee Meeting
Affiliated Club reps are reminded that the next IRTS Committee meeting
will be held at the Maldron Hotel in Portlaoise at 11am on Saturday the
23rd of January
should they wish to attend.

Haitian Amateur Radio Frequencies
All radio amateurs are requested to keep 7045 kHz and 3720 kHz clear
for possible emergency traffic related to the major earthquake in
Haiti.
ADDITIONAL AMATEUR FREQUENCIES that may be active with EMERGENCY
traffic: are as follows 3977, 3985, 7265,
7290, 14265, and 14300 kHz.
REMINDERS: Avoid transmitting within 3 kHz (on either side) of these
frequencies except for EMERGENCY or
PRIORITY traffic.

Engineers Week
Engineers Ireland,Engineers week takes place from Monday the 8th of
February. As part of this event activities are taking place all around
the country.
In Dublin a new group is hosting an introduction to Amateur Radio for
those who are not involved in
Amateur Radio.
The same group is presenting more activities such as soldering, circuit
boards & micro controllers. Places are limited and most events are
free or at cost price. If you know of people who may be interested

North Sea Gas Platform Station
The first Amateur Radio HF activation of Shearwater Gas Platform in the
North Sea will take place during SOS
Radio Week Jan 23-31.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) provides a 24-hour life
saving service in the seas and waters around the coast of the British
Isles and SOS Radio Week is the perfect opportunity for Radio Amateurs
to lend their support to this charity.

Christie, GM1TGY hopes to be operational from the Shearwater Gas
Platform in the North Sea during SOS Radio Week - the first HF
operation from the platform as, being a modern rig, it does not have a

On Saturday February 6th all AREN members are requested to attend a
meeting being held in the Park Hotel,
Clonmel County Tipperary.

CQ CQ calling news items
As is common through the year we have occasional lulls in news from EI.
If your group or club are involved in anything that you would like to
share with our Listeners or readers please pass on the information to
our editor.

Wicklow Radio Club
Following their first successful meeting, it is hoped at the next
meeting to have a station set up to receive digital modes for a demo.
There is a request that if anyone is familiar with Digi modes and can
provide an introduction on the night it would be much appreciated.
Further plans are also being made for Contest and Field Day
participation, as well as activating the rare square that Wicklow
Lighthouse is located in with 6m activity also planned in the summer.
The Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday Feb 10th at 19:30 in the
Glebe National School, Wicklow Town. All
are welcome to attend.

Rallies
The Mid Ulster Amatuer Radio Club's January Radio Sale will be held on
Saturday the 30th January 2010 from 11am at Brownlow Resource Centre,
Brownlow Road, Craigavon. Entrance fee is a £1 with a free tea/coffee
to warm up with. This is a Radio Sale the actual Club
Rally is being Held in May.
Phoenix A.R.C Rally 14th February
The Rally will be held as usual at Coolmine Community School near
Blanchardstown on Sunday 14th February 2010.Doors open from 9am to
2.30pm. Usual traders will be present and to encourage a real Amateur
Radio orientated Rally bring and buy tables
will be free of charge.

first rally of the New Year and usually a very enjoyable occasion.
Refreshments and plenty of car parking are available.
Dundalk Rally 25th April
The Rally will commence at 11.00am, followed by the
IRTS AGM at 2.00pm.

The Lagan Valley ARS Rally will be held at 11.30am in
