COLONIE -- Radio station WGY (810 AM) on Thursday fired host Al Roney
and said it would replace his show with a syndicated program manned by
Fox News personality Glenn Beck.
The decision quickly set off a small firestorm among Roney fans, who
established a "Save Al Roney" Facebook page and decried the loss of
what they called one of the few local voices on Capital Region radio.
"It's all gone national," said Geoff Searl, a 28-year-old from Clifton
Park. "I just see this as a revenue-based decision instead of one
that's in line with what the public is looking for."
