Middle East
This makes me wonder. My guess is that he/she is not in a position to
have a lengthy discussion, let's say they are in Iran, Syria, Lebanon,
Saudi Arabia, Gaza, etc.
He opens a disposible email account, posts his question with as little
identifying information as possible, takes the advice and has someone
buy him a radio and bring it in hidden in their dirty socks in their luggage.
He then disapears from here, and sits in the dark, listening to the news that
is uncensored and unmonitored on shortwave, instead of the internet where it
is both censored and monitored in his country.
I know this is awfully melodramatic, but if you think this does not still
exist to this day, you must be asleep.
During the cold war it was common, have we all become so jaded that we assume
everyone who posts here is a native Englsh speaker, has broadband internet,
unlimited funds and time, and lives in a democracy that allows the free
flow of information and wants to be identified.
If you saw the last Saturday Night Live, where (an actor playing) President
Obama, went over the census form with you, with some very difficult questions,
you can extrapolate the one about firearms to radios.
Geoff, there is nothing that you said that would shock me if that
scenario went down. Enjoy living in Israel, that beautiful country-
one day here shortly we are going to visit.:-)
