is there somthing to plugin in the tube socket,

can you change crystals from the frontpanel hole labeled crystals

You can plug 2 of the old FT-243 style crystals into an octal
socket. You will have to look in the manual for the proper
orientation.

Hi,

You can also use two type HC-17/U fundamental mode crystals
in the octal socket. You should specify 32pF load capacitance
when you order them. Most crystal suppliers no longer offer
crystals in the old FT-243 holders.

The type HC-17/U holder is the same as the modern, hermetic,
HC-6/U holder, but has thicker pins to mate with the sockets
that were used with FT-243 crystals.

The crystals take the place of the VFO, whose output frequencies
were multiplied to get to the higher bands.
So if you want a crystal to operate on 14,200 , 21,300 or 28,400
you would plug in a 7,100 KHz crystal.

The manual has the chart of which crystals to use
for the desired band.
