Not hard to imagine. It's just history repeating itself.

Back in 1890, Congress was on the Mormons for their polygamy and
suddenly the church president had a vision in which the angel Moroni
told him it was OK to cancel polygamy.

My, my...how convenient.

I am conflicted about Mormonism. To me and IMHO, it seems founded on fraud:

The Golden Plates, Urim and Thummim, icons of the foundation of the
church...and all mysteriously (and dare I say), conveniently "lost".

Also, the the founder of the church said he was allowed to have sex with
your wife.

Oooops, sorry, my mistake -- he said he was allowed to have sex with
your wife AND with your daughter.

My conflict comes about because as you state below, they seem to have
excellent family values.

They do have their good points, though. They're really big on family (and
have a lot of really big families!). They also have a church welfare system
I very much admi they will give aid (food, etc.) to any member that needs
it at any time..

So, therein lies the dichotomy...good people following a 'religion' that
(IMHO) seems to be founded on fraud...by a dirty old man no less.

Why God wants them to wear burlap underwear I will leave for another
discussion.

That was a funny post. I didn't know anything about what you stated. I
guess when you got to the part of their leader being able to tap BOTH
the wife and daughter....I then came to my conclusion. I think it
sounds like with most denominations, that there are/were good points
and then someone came/comes along and in his point to fullfill HIS
fantasies or other crackpot beliefs - that he screwed it up.
