JIm, I assume you refer to the *debt*, which is correct; it did not
treble or any other whole number multiple . Peter's assertion about
the annual *deficit*, however, is closer to the mark...Obama, with the
help of most of Congress, passed increases for a number of reasons,
for reasons that are well within anybody's memory. However, this
almost certainly would *not* have happened if we had not been in a
(hpefully) short-term economic crisis.
