Yeah, Tom *did* know what he was doing, as evidenced by the book after
the staff was fired, not unlike what happened at KMPX... 1968 was a
watershed year, with the infamous radio strike at KMPX (Leon Crosby
discovered a bunch of barefoot, longhaired *hippies* were the "air
personallities" )...The movie "FM" *very loosely* depicted the staike
at KMPX...and in 1968 Tom then went on to run KSAN (The Jive 95) for
many years before he died (as mentioned in theSammy Hagar song "The
Fillmore Shuffle - "face down on the hallway")...and a scab crew was
installed at KMPX at a new location near Fisherman's Wharf...

In those days you could catch a PSA flight between SF & LA for
$12.oo...so it was easy for Tom to run both stations using the non
formula he devised for KMPX...

And as an update, Dusty Street is now a drug councelor (!!!)...I
remember her first day at KMPX engineering for the (late) Bob Prescott

month journey that ended when the entire KPPC air staff was fired by

4PM-9PM B. MITCHEL REED (KFWB, WMCA)
9PM-MID TOM DONAHUE (KMPX-FM, KYA)
MID-6AM DON HALL (KPPC-FM)

The original 1968 KPPC air staff included TED ALVY (Cosmos Topper) and
STEVEN SEGAL (The Obscene Steven Clean).
