I can fix a Viking. What's wrong with it?

"What's wrong", you ask?

The weight is what's wrong.

Unless you guys are neighbors, the shipping alone to/from you in
California would be worth almost as much as the radio. :-)

I don't have to have it in front of me. Is it a Valiant?

Well, not mine so I dunno if it's a Valiant or not, but it SAYS it's a
Viking.

In any event, it takes two men and a boy to carry either one.

Nice of you to offer, but be careful fixing stuff like that by "remote
control". If the owner *is* knowledgeable, he doesn't need your remote
help; if the owner is NOT knowledgeable, he damn well shouldn't be
poking around inside the radio. Lethal voltages inside, ya know.

Just my 2 cents...

We had a Viking Valiant at KDIL back in 1971. We added a couple turns
to a coil and got the VFO to light up on 1600 kHz. Made it from PHX to
LAX at night, loudest station on the dial.

I suggest your friends learn all about rebuilding transformers.
