Default National paint finish?

Does anyone know what that almost "pearloid" finish is, found on an
NC-183D, or the lighter shade on an NC-57B? Its not just a color, it
seems to be a very lightly reflective finish. Its not a hammertone, it
is a solid color. But it seems to have a depth thats beyond just a
simple paint.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hammerite brand will get you pretty close. Although the name is
similarly suggestive its not quite a hammertone finish.

I got some at Eastwood.com several years back.

Mfr p/n 41105 Hammered Silver Gray. UPC # 51652-41105. Masterchem.com
makes it.

As with most of these type things there's a bit of a learning curve in
using it to get the desired results.

Its as close as I've been able to come and I think its worth a try for you.
