The newer CFLs I have purchased appear to be radio-silent, at least at
HF freqs. *Still want LEDs, tho...


Most of the time it is the Electronics that make up the
Starter and the Ballast that are the source of the RFI
not the actual CFL Light Bulb Element {Tube}.

Direct plug-in 120 VAC LEDs will have the same problem
getting the 120 VAC down to the lower DCV of the LED.
the LED's other Electronics could be a 'source' of some
very small amounts of RFI -if- done right -or- a 'source' of
some RFI -if- done cheaply/badly.

FWIW most of the LEDs that i have attempted to use
in the last few years have been : Too Dim or Fail within
a Year due to internal heat, internal 'connections' and
other AC to DC circuit components.

Not So Bright LEDs
LED Wattage to Incandescent Light Bulb [ILB] Watts :
1 LED Watt ~ 9 ILB Watt
2 LED Watt ~ 18 ILB Watt
3 LED Watt ~ 24 ILB Watt
4 LED Watt ~ 32 ILB Watt
5 LED Watt ~ 45 ILB Watt
-note- here that a 5 Watt LED is about as 'bright' as
a 'dim' 40 Watt ILB and most Consumers would not
think of using a 40 Watt ILB Bulb in a light socket.
6 LED Watt ~ 54 ILB Watt
7 LED Watt ~ 63 ILB Watt
-now- at 7 Watts an LED is is about as 'bright' as
a 'low light' 60 Watt ILB and most Consumers would
think of using one, two or three 60 Watt ILB Bulbs in
some light applications. -but- the 7 Watt LED Bulb
may 'cost' that Consumer ~$50 *ouch*
8 LED Watt ~ 72 ILB Watt
9 LED Watt ~ 81 ILB Watt
-better- at 8~9 Watts an LED is is about as 'bright' as
a 'moderate light' 75 Watt ILB and most Consumers
would think of using one 75 Watt ILB Bulbs in some
light applications. -but- again the 8~9 Watt LED Bulb
may 'cost' that Consumer ~$75 *ouch*ouch*
10 LED Watt ~ 90 ILB Watt
11 LED Watt ~ 99 ILB Watt
12 LED Watt ~ 108 ILB Watt
-best- at 11~12 Watts an LED is is about as 'bright' as
a 'standard light' 100 Watt ILB and most Consumers
would think of using one 100 Watt ILB Bulbs in most
light applications. -but- again the 11~12 Watt LED Bulb
may 'cost' that Consumer ~$100 *ouch*ouch*ouch*

FWIW at $0.10 per KW : $100 can buy a lot of KWs
over time per ILB and even more with CFLs without
a Capital Investment of $100s for LEDs.
