I have a large 5 gang variable cap with anti-backlash gear and worm drive,
does anyone know what radio it comes from? You can see a pic he

The cap is approx 6 x 3 x 2 inches

Thanks,

Charlie.

Quick answer, I don't know. However there are clues here that could help
someone with a better memory than me.

1. 5 gang variables were common in superhet receivers with two
RF stages. Mostly military, and mostly aircraft.
2. Looks like the tuning drive adapter is for a remote control cable.

BC-348/224's had 5 gang variables, I believe, as did the BC-312.
however those had a direct drive, 1/4" shaft from the worm drive, not
a remote cable adapter.

Sorry to waste bandwidth here, but I don't know.
