Really, it is time to go LED ... if we ever need them, we can bring back
incandescent ...

LEDs don't seem very cost effective, and the energy usage seems
comparable to CFLs.

Rough 100 Watt Power Light Output Equivalents :

Old Incandescent Bulb Watts = 100 {Cost $1}

New CFL Bulb Watts = 26 : {Cost $4 ~ 4X}
INC to CFL 4:1

LED Bulb Claim Watts = 11 : {Cost $25 ~ 25X}
INC to LED 9:1
CFL to LED 2:1

IMHO - Currently The Best Bang For The Buck :
Is The CFL Bulb :
* Relative Initial Cost to Buy the 1st Bulb
* Longer Service Life and fewer Bulb Replacements
* * CFL Life = 13 INCs ~ 1-CFL = 1/3 of INC Total
* Fewer Watts Used per Hour/Month/Year/LC
Lower Energy Cost over it Total Life-Cycle

These Spiral {Mushroom} CFLs rated at
120 Watts Light Output {=Lumens} and use

only 30 Watts of Power are Good for Reading
Lights {Daylight} and Shine Well in most places

a 100 Watt Incandescent Bulb was used before.

In a Kitchen where they are switch On&Off many
times Daily and are "On" for 8~12 Hours Daily
these last about 3-Years before they don't
Light-Up anymore.
