However, back then, a person had to save the tin cans which they just
prepared their food from. *They had to save their toothpaste tubes.
There was such a shortage of things, you had stamps and certain days you
could buy such things as coffee, tires for your car, etc. *The shortages
and conditions which the people living though the war had to tolerate
would be shocking to the children today.

Life was centered about that war effort. *People had weapons are were
ready to defend their homes, families, friends, property, etc. when
foreign forces got to our borders. *Like someone has mentioned, someone
needs to get ahold of some history books which tell what really happened
and was going on ... I am old enough that my grandparents lived through
these times, had memories, had pictures ... all the children seem to
have today are false ideas of what it was all about, about what really
happened ... sad, so very, very sad ... as those who don't remember are
doomed to repeat it ... a real shame when my grandparents fought this
terrible war so that the children coming along now wouldn't have to go
through such things ...

Ignorance really does look disgusting ... especially when that ignorance
causes those inflicted to appear like un-thankful idiot-morons ...
