It seems to me that selling parts alone is not going to give enough margin
for
a home business.

I had been giving this some thought myself, and while I won't ever have the
guts
to do this unless I ever get laid off from my software job (33%
unemployment rate in IT in the US!!!), my personal opinion is to gravitate
to
modules or subassemblies that are needed by hams whose designs are (1)
unprotected,
(2) public domain i.e. results of government research, (3) prior art, or (4)
licenseable
to you for a reasonable percentage.

The more you can add value, the better your return will be.

Don't know if it's of any help but I buy items on-line, by phone &
locally and what I look for in all suppliers a

1. Useful stock
2. Good price to me at SIT (soldering iron tip)
3. Someone at the other end who knows what they are talking about, the
help full suggestion of a suitable alternative that is in stock, or even
an alternative supplier for the really tricky one would always earns a
return visit in my book. If I get good service I don't keep it to
myself.
