Would it be worthwhile starting an on-line parts ordering house?

I have been pondering this idea on and off, but can't tell if it would be
worth the effort to do something like this. Can you make a decent living
selling small quantities of parts - passives, crystals, oscillators, solid
state, IC's , even exotic things like back diodes and mmic's - via mail
order. Or, do the large parts houses like Digi Key have the field sewn up?
I would say not, at least in the US. Digi-Key is scary good, and there
are plenty of other vendors (from Jameco to Mouser to Circuit
Specialists to Mini-Circuits to Newark...) for the cases where Digi-Key
doesn't come through with the goods.
