Actually, Gary DeBock discovered that, at least for some Tecsun products,
there are generations and that significant design changes can occur within
the same model. A good example was the analog R-9012 which has been
compared to the excellent-performing 911 but with a tuning knob instead of
a wheel. The problem is, ULDX folks started buying them in droves and many
turned out to be duds. The answer was that the good performance came from
a redesigned 2nd production run. With many recent Tecsun models that
information is hidden in small print on the inside of the carton's end
flap. When there is a difference, some of the more reliable eBay sellers
(like tqchina or anon-co) will honor requests for a specific variant
before shipping an order.
