Dear Larry, At Radio Netherlands we used a product called "Kool Amp", it is a paste that you rub onto your metallic (in this case copper) surface with a cotton cloth. The paste contains silver and plates onto your metal. If want to prevent the oxidation mix a small amount of organic solder flux (rosin, etc) into denatured alcohol and dip the PC board after assembly, let it dry (this is sometimes called "solder-brite") here is a picture of the process:
