There were many Amerindian nations present when the modern European
nations showed up. They had been displacing and invading _each
other_ for thousands of years before 1492. In fact, some of them may
have invaded and displaced earlier European arrivals, such as the
Vikings and the Solutreans.

But I also believe that a dishonorable course was followed by the
federal government in Washington in relations with the Amerindian
peoples. Treaties should have been honored, and were not; cultures
and genes could have been protected, and were not; deception was
often used by Washington, and that is dishonorable. It's about time
we all learned just how dishonorable the regime in Washington is.

The proper way for differing human groups to peaceably coexist on an
increasingly crowded planet Earth is, I think, to follow the Maxim
of Self-Determination, which is:

"Every people which considers itself to _be_ a people should, to the
maximum extent possible, live under its own government."
