Yes, but it varies with how the sun hits the panels and the state of
charge. I figure the noise is from switching. It's a 'maximum power
point tracker (mppt)', so the input can be up to 130+ vdc, while the
output varies form zero to 14+ volts, depending what the state of the
batteries is.

Mid day is the loudest, when the noise is a constant screech. At first I
thought it was the modified sine wave inverter, but after trying a
smaller (800 watt) pure sine wave unit, I found there was NO reduction
in the noise.

The type of noise is really irritating, with some weird effects
happening at sunrise's first light and again at sunset.

Filtering would be nice. I hope it's more possible to do than trying to
repair a modified sine wave inverter output.
