Isn't it like $500? That's pretty low end for a communications receiver
(even with the $300 computer you need to make it work). A radio is only

Universal has it listed as $999.95. It weighs just 380 grams. It has a
hot front end,according to the specs and reviews . It is NOT a 'pretty
low end' receiver in my book .

A "hot" front end would definitely benefit from an attenuator upstream.
A preselector would work too, unless you were "panning".
