Transmits fine, all of a sudden all I receive is static, even on local

commercial AM stations?

Squelch is Full open = Coax is hooked up

Antenna is A3S/A743 Cushcraft Beam = 10-15-20-40 meters.

I aught to hear something other than static.

Any ideas - TIA

Unplugged the Ameritron AMP = Now the radio works but I can't use the amp.

You didn't mention the amp in your original posting. Hard to diagnose
things accurately, at a distance, when one doesn't have a full picture
of the setup in question.

Sounds as if the amp's transmit-switchover relays are bad, or are
being improperly keyed by the radio. The amp's supposed to leave the
antenna connected directly to the transceiver, except when you key up
the transceiver.

You'll want to check the relay's signal continuity (and be VERY VERY
CAREFUL about how you do this... an amp of this sort has lethal
amounts of power present inside it when turned on, and for quite some
time after it's turned off!), and also the PTT-keying connection from
the transceiver to the amp.

I have a vague recollection that some radios, and some amps, can
interact badly, especially if misconfigured (e.g. if the transceiver
isn't told it's controlling an external amp or has the wrong transmit
delay time setting). If the transceiver starts transmitting before
telling the amp to switch over, or with an inadequate amount of delay,
the amp's relay may open or close while transmitter power is flowing
through it. This can cause the contacts to arc, burn, and possibly
even stick.

It's possible you need a replacement relay in the amp, *and* a setting
adjustment on the TS-450 to tell it to increase its TX delay.
