Anybody (besides me) going to participate?

AFAIK many clubs, certainly the larger ones, in Alberta will be
participating in Field Day.

Our group has managed to get our local MP, Member of Parliament, to
come out. That would be the equivalent of the US Congress person.
Do we get extra points for a federally elected official? smile

Our MP came out and spent some low tension, low pressure time with
us.. Turns out he personally knew four of the five amateurs who were
present including me.

(Low pressure, low tension meant that we were hassling him or asking
for money but just doing a demo so he could learn about amateur
radio.)

I have to leave due to personal reasons but another amateur showed up
after doing some tower work. So 5 amateurs are running 3 stations in
a former football field and having a great time. 3A Alberta

We got one of the local newspapers out and four visitors besides the
MP. I'm disappointed that no town councillors or officials showed up.
I'll have to do better follow up next year.

And next year we'll invite the Premier of Alberta. Give him about 10
months notice. smile As a county councillor some ten years ago he
did attend some amateur radio meetings.
