Bert,
Not imagination. From my Plymouth station it bears about 315 degrees, and
from my Lake Vermilion station it seems southerly, but inconsistent.
Measurements taken Friday from Vermilion, and Saturday and Sunday from
Plymouth.
What's the azimuth from your station?

For the past week or so, I've been hearing a constant carrier on
14.0MHz, as exactly on frequency as my rig can determine.
It varies in strength through the day, changes strength when I switch
between my R5 vertical and 40 meter dipole, and disappears when I switch
out the antennas.
Even though nothing new has been introduced into the house, I went
through the exercise of unplugging or turning things off, but the signal
remains.
Anybody else hearing it, or is it something local?
