Amateur Radio Newsline report number 1708 with a release date of
Friday, May 7, 2010 to follow in 5-4-3-2-1.
In Scandinavia, the Northern Lights were so bright they could be seen
through the glow of the midnight sun. Meantime, what's reported as a
red colored aurora spilled across the Canadian border and were spotted
in several Northern U-S states. Some good 6 meter auroral DX is reported
to have accompanied the aurora.
Not to be picky about details, but are you sure the original message
stated "midnight sun"?
North Cape at 71deg 10' North, which is the absolute northernmost well-known
geographical point of Scandinavia, is not able to see a full midnight sun
until May 13th.
I suspect the report may have stated "mid-day sun" ...
Yours,
