A short, 5 min 33 sec video of the VOA site, from UNC.
I was there sometime in the mid 80's. Can't remember
the exact date. Was cool back then. anyone who can take
themselves away from the crap being posted here may enjoy
this, before it disappears.

They play some pretty good music in the evenings (beamed to S.
America) in the 6 and 7MHz bands. Watch out for the Radio Marti
frequencies which can be jammed.

Jim.
I don't get to follow the old timers as much as I wish. Seems
every time I get some home time, we get the big storms. Like this
morning, I'm trying to hear the watch net on 14.325u. Just noise
here. Good DX!

There's a ND7K who seems to be control operator who would relay to the
National Weather Service. I can hear him today workiing a few
stations. He has received a couple calls from hams who were affected
but not severely (lost internet, etc). Time here is 1930 UTC.
Should start to hear stations from the affected area near sunset as
the band lengthens a bit. Right now hearing mainly the Florida station
(ND7K). Someone called in with a 3-4 ' storm surge at 1945 UTC. All
quiet at 1959 UTC.
Jim(MI)
Jim, I keep the HWN, or the Maritime Mobil guys on 14.300 on, in the
back-round here during the season. What is it, May to Oct/Nov.? Always
interesting commo. Maybe, in a past life, I was a sailor. I sometimes
go for the WEFAX/ or GOES. Fun stuff. Been trying to retire for 2 years
now. I have all this gear here, and never home enough to really enjoy
it. As the big broadcasters sunset, I find myself turning to more ute's.
BTW, I'm in the ridge's of western PA. About 45 miles, east of
Pittsburgh. Nice and quiet here. Just down the road, 2.5 miles from the
Pitt/Carnegie-Mellon observatory. Very cool place. Lots of room for
wire and loops. Love it.
Good DX!
