WOCN31 CWHX 132345
Tropical cyclone information statement updated by the Canadian
Hurricane Centre of Environment Canada at 6:26 PM ADT Tuesday
13 September 2011.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tropical cyclone information statement for:
Newfoundland
Nova Scotia.

For tropical storm Maria.

The next statement will be issued by 9:00 AM ADT Wednesday.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre is monitoring tropical storm
Maria for possible impact in Atlantic Canada late this week.

==discussion==
Tropical storm Maria was situated about 1100 kilometres
south-southwest of Bermuda 6 PM Tuesday evening. Deep convective
clouds have begun to grow over the storm centre, therefore it is
likely that Maria will gain some intensity overnight and early
Wednesday. Maria is being forecast by the computer models to move
northward and merge with a sharp front over Eastern Canada late
Thursday and into Friday. The current forecast challenge is
determining how that merger will take place. At the least, we can
expect the front to acquire extra moisture from the tropical storm
and associated rainfall to affect Nova Scotia and/or Newfoundland on
Friday. We will have a better understanding of potential wind
speeds/impacts with Maria over the next day or so.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre will begin regular 6-hourly forecasts
at 9:00 AM ADT Wednesday.

issued by Environment Canada for your area.
