Most Baby Boomers in the Southwest can tell you about Todd Storz' mighty
KOMA. They had regular listeners in Hawaii and you could get them in
Vietnam with the right equipment. Look at the size of their towers.

I lived in Astoria, OR when I was 15, and KOMA was one of my favorite
stations. They boomed in loud and clear once I nulled out (the then)
KYXI, a 50KW plant licensed to Oregon City, just 80 miles away. At one
point, much later in my life, I was even able to receive them in
Portland (8 miles NNW) using a Fisher tuner and a large loop antenna.
Nulling (by then) KSGO was more difficult, but it could be done because
I was outside their primary nighttime pattern.

For me, it was Wolfman Jack and "The Mighty Ten-Ninety."

Rock N' Roll to save my soul!

Regards (as a tear of sorrow rolls down the face ...),
