Default My wall wart and static.

I have a Grundig Yacht Boy 400 and a month ago the power connection from the
wall wart broke off at the tip so I couldn't solder in a new connection. So
I went to my local used items place and bought a wall wart with the proper
voltage and I had to flip the wires to make it the right polarity. Anyway,
I get a click click click sound in my radio on most AM stations. Only if
they are close by or in higher freqs. does it get better. Now I'm wondering
if the wall wart that came with the radio had some sort of by pass filtering
in it. How can I get rid of this. It doesn't do it when I run the radio on
batteries, and it is not the area of my house as I have played other radios
with no interference. This does not happen on FM. Are there better wall
warts that are made for radios? I suppose the one I got came out of some
kids toy car and was as cheap as they come. Do you folks out there have any
ideas? Thanks in advance.
