The connector you are describing is the one called RCA (plugs and jacks).
The Motorola is larger, and the socket looks like a 5/16" hole about 3/4"
deep, with the center pin even deeper than that. The RCA socket protrudes
out about a quarter to 3/8 inch and is also around 5/16" dia.

The kind you're refering to is an RCA jack, I think. From the looks of the
plug, it appears the end of the coax would have to look like the cables
you
plug into your TV or VCR's A/V jacks.
