Actually, I have been in a hotel room with something similar. Well, the
earth wasn't actually a cup of earth but the wires were coming out of the
wall. Ah well, if you know they are wires then you'll also know to be very
careful with them (especially in a damp bathroom). If you don't know they
are wires then you'd probably not be in a hotel in the first place?
