Tipperary Amateur Radio Group AGM
On Wednesday the 7th of November 2012 last, members of the Tipperary
Amatuer Radio Group met at Raheen House Hotel at 8.30pm for their 18th
Annual General Meeting. This was a well attended meeting with group
members travelling from Co Kilkenny, Co Waterford, Co Limerick and Co
Cork joining their Co Tipperary based colleagues. Paul EI3ENB chaired
this very productive meeting with John EI7IG reading the minutes from
last years AGM. The group treasurer Thomas EI2IT reported a healthy
financial situation for this amateur radio group which was formed in
October 1994. A review of the year and the group activities were then
discussed at length. Particular praise was given to Eddie EI3FFB for
reading the weekly IRTS news every Sunday evening at 8.30pm on
145.450mhz FM. Eddie provides a valuable service for the group and his
efforts were very much appreciated. The new committee was elected for
the coming year and the meeting concluded at 11.30pm when Paul EI3ENB
thanked all for their input and efforts in attending this most
important event of the calender year for TARG. The new committee was
elected as follows:-
Chairman- Paul Norris EI3ENB Vice Chairman - Eddie Kavangh EI3FFB
Secretary - John Ronan EI7IG Treasurer -Thomas Hallinan EI2IT ThomPRO -

5 MHz 'Sunset' Net Changes Frequency
The popular Sunday evening 'Sunset' Net on 5 MHz is changing frequency.
The net, which as its name implies, meets around UK sunset time on
Sunday evenings to compare propagation with that during the 5 MHz GB2RS
News earlier the same day has for some time met on the UK's 5371.5 kHz
channel.
Following a number of reception reports from Amateurs in the Republic
of Ireland, the net participants have decided to move the Sunset Net's
frequency to 5398.5 kHz (with a backup of 5278.5 kHz), beginning Sunday
18th November as both these latter two channels are available to EI
Amateurs, whereas 5371.5 kHz is not.
We hope that more EI Amateurs with 5 MHz experimental licences will
join us here in the future and indeed welcome all wishing to
participate.
