You can put anything on anything, but the gains associated with the N type connector as opposed to the PL / SO connector on a transceiver of that type is minscule...

The easiest way would be to put the connector on a piece of wire and put a grommlet on the back of the radio and wire it to the board..

The SO connector is attached to the back of the radio with either nuts and bolts or rivets - isn't real hard to remove / replace...
It is soldered to the board with two jumpers...
Not real high tech...

The board is screwed to the heat sink material...
