Anyway, a few weeks ago the green LED segments that display the channel
numbers have started burning out. There are 3 or 4 segments that don't
illuminate when the radio is first turned on (summer or winter same problem)
and sometimes one or two of them do eventually illuminate. I can still
tell which channel I'm on as long as no more of them go out. The other
part of the display that is the signal meter works fine.
Does anyone else out there own this radio or know someone that does? If
so do you (or they) have similar problems. Unfortunately the warranty
has been expired for about two years now.

Friends don't let friends drive stock.
I have used my Uniden Pro 640e since the 19990's! When the display segments quit working I found on opening the radio up that the solder joints had come undone. Upon re-soldering them, the segments were once again lit and have worked to this day(April 27, 2014)!
