The TS-450S on our yacht ADAGIO has been idle since our last ocean passages
in 2012.

Preparing for a passage to New Caledonia end of this week I found that the
Kenwood seems to work fine in all respects, BUT we have no audio out either
the builtin speaker or the headphone jack. My guess is the cause is likely to
be a control accidentally bumped while cleaning, varnishing. Darned if I can
find it.

I have the TS-690S, which is a TS-450S with Six Meters. A couple of
years ago I had a similar audio problem after the radio had been sitting
for a while.

It turned out that an electrolytic capacitor between the audio output
stage and the speaker (as best I can remember) had leaked its
electrolyte, which had eaten one of its printed circuit paths.

The repair consisted of replacing the defective capacitor and wiring a
jumper between the end points of the open circuit path. (I used a piece
of wire-wrap wire.)
