Update 3/2: Radionomys streaming platform has come back online. Thank you
for your patience. Our services are now back to normal and we are working
with our partners in order to prevent such outage to happen again. Posted
by Radionomy onWednesday, March 2, 2016 Original Report 3/1 11:30pm: DIY
streaming radio provider Radionomy has gone offline after being served with
a lawsuit from Sony Music labels Arista Records, LaFace Records, Sony Music
Entertainment and Zomba Recording over failure to pay royalties and license
their music. TorrentFreak.com reports that music from artists including
Adele, Bob, Dylan, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Elvis Presley, John
Mayer, Michael Jackson, One Direction, Pink Floyd and Shakira were among
the ones noted by the Sony labels in the lawsuit. They requested a
permanent injunction against Radionomy and financial damages. The company
has stated that it has not paid royalties to record labels since 2014.
Radionomy has sent out a note to its users stating: Hello, Radionomy
platform encounters a major Internet issue that impacts all stations. Our
technical team is working on it to restore the connections as soon as
possible. We apologize for the inconvenience. French media conglomerate
Vivendi owns a 64.4% majority stake in the Belgian based platform.
Radionomy includes the TargetSpot digistal ad platform, Shoutcast streaming
platform and Winamp media player in its holdings. The company sent out a
press release earlier today announcing its new iOS and Android mobile apps
along with smart TV apps for Roku and Samsung TVs which indicates this move
came out of nowhere. The lawsuit against Radionomy following the end of
Live365 earlier this year makes DIY radio streaming a much more difficult
proposition.
