[Pretty long - but lots of details about this one - twas a very fun project]
As Ive been actually using the K1T Heathkit Commemoration station quite a
lot recently, Ive begun to be concerned about heat. My operating shelves
are fairly tight, and lots of tube rigs are in very close proximity. Id
noticed that the heat levels are high - like really high, above the SB-401
especially as well as the SB-101 when doing contests - things are fine for
normal QSO use,...

A while back, I acquired all of the miscellaneous parts, etc., from an SK
estate. All of the equipment had been sold off (by a family friend who
made sure that "top dollar" was gotten for each item!) and there was,
basically, a lot of "junque" that no one seemed to be interested in
obtaining. So, the family friend approached me to see if I would be
interested in purchasing all the "junque" at a very good price. I agreed
to obtain the the "junque".
There were all sorts...

So I finally have a hi-impedance microphone(a Shure 450 Series ii, with the
hi/lo impedance switch) that I purchased off of eBay in my possession
temporarily rigged up to the radio(wires are all jumpered, nothing soldered
yet with that expensive 2-pin connector.), and while it does appear to
work, to get any kind of meter deflection, I feel like Im darn near
screaming into the thing with the mic gain fully clockwise to get any kind
of alc on the radio or output on my watt meter.. wondering...

Need help on ID - Radio Wall Speaker

Hi all:
Got a radio speaker with no markings. Originally was bundled with a
Hammarlund JX radio (since sold) but got separated in a move. It does have
a couple of holes drilled in the face, but not sure of purpose.
Was wondering if anyone could identify it. After much googling, could find
nothing close to it.
Also, thoughts on a price? I am going to put it up for sale on QRZ want
ads. thanks!

Starting an R390 Non-A Rebuild

Wondering if perhaps Ive contracted a slight case of Collins Collector
Disease. First signs of it occured this summer when I purchased my first
Grey Box, a broke 30L-1 on eBay. The guy said it had melted tubes and thats
all he knew about it. I took a chance and bought it. Cleaned it out, threw
some tubes and parts at it and got it going. At least it works into the
dummy load. I havent actually used it on the air yet but it just looks so
elegant and cool sitting on the desk....
