Problems with TS-520 tuning

I recently acquired a TS-520. I am trying to get it tuned to get on the
air, but I am struggling to get this all straightened out. I am going
through the procedure from the manual, and in the second part I am supposed
to tune ALC for maximum deflection, but when I put the meter in ALC mode,
and go to send, I get NO deflection on the ALC meter. Moving the DRIVE
knob does not change it, neither does adjusting the CAR knob.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I am attempting to tune up...

Need help to ID Hallicrafters HT-37 VOX relay

Hi All,

I have a HT-37 transmitter that a couple of the terminals fell off the VOX
relay. I would like to replace it with

the new style cube type relay. I would like to get the correct
specifications for the relay since it is actuated by

a tube switching circuit.

The relay is a Potter - Brumfield MH-3665-1. From an old post here on QRZ
someone had a technical catalog

and identified it with 22K ohm coil resistance and 200 VDC. My coil is
still good and I measure 10.6K ohm and

about 95...

Kenwood ts 520 verses Yaesu FT 101

Im very familiar with the TS 520 and never operated a FT 101. I know some
of the internal differences but what about performance? Which was the
better radio or were they about the same? Was there much of a price
difference between the two?

Ive been told, Japan made the TS 520 a game changer and started the demise
of some of the American companies. I assume the 101 was direct competition
for the 520.

thanks
