Strange Power Meter Fault

I posted details of this fault before . . . but nobody responded . . . so I
will try again.

The actual Model of the meter isnt really relevant . . . its the usual HF
type of SWR & Power Meter design where a short wire between the In and Out
coax sockets simply passes through a toroid, which has the sampling wires
wound round it.

It has 3 power ranges, 30W, 300W and 3kW.

I bought this secondhand, and at first it worked fine, for a day or two.

But then suddenly, when tuning...

After far too much time spent working on digital design and modeling, Im
getting back into genuine "physical" analog and RF design. Very few
folks, including electrical engineers, are doing this any more....because
its HARD....but the rewards are great. And theres amazing job security in
knowing how to design RF and analog stuff....because so few people are
doing it any more.

Attached is the best discussion of...

IC-720A: how to adjust CW sidetone, and freq. adjustment?

Posted: 23 Mar 2017 02:42 PM PDT
http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...stment.560216/

Hey all,

Part 1 - in which I search for an adjustment

Ive been looking through both the operators and service manuals for the
IC-720A but dont seem to see anywhere which describes an adjustment for the
CW sidetone frequency. Its specified at 800 Hz, mine appears to be 861 Hz
actually. This is something of a nuisance, because Im running an external
audio stage DSP (Timewave DSP-9), and if I want to go to the 100Hz CW
filter centered at 750 I now remove my own sidetone. Ideally then Id...

IC-7100 (almost) no RF output

Hi!

(Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum)

My IC-7100 stopped transmitting, or so I thought until I actually tried
talking through the local repeater. It does open the repeater, but the
display shows no power coming out. With the SX-1100 SWR bridge connected,
it barely moves the needle at the 5W power level. The radio is consuming
around 2-4 (aprox.) amps when transmitting on any band, be it HF/VHF/UHF
(any mode). RX is normal. The fan starts for a second and then goes very
low again...
