India launches ham radio satellites



On June 22 the Indian Space Agency ISRO successfully launched several
satellites carrying amateur radio payloads



The CSAT Swayam satellite was one of those launched. The 1U CubeSat carries
a digital store and forward messaging system for use by the amateur radio
community.

W3LPL Antenna Farm/Contest Station Hit by Tornado

The ARRL.org website reports W3LPLs extraordinary antenna farm has suffered
major damage from an EF0 tornado, from storms that pounded the DC-Maryland
corridor recently. The area is now without electricity although no injuries
were reported from Frank or family. The tornado also hit Bernie, W3UR, who
lives next to W3LPL.

Justin Bieber gets Class A ham radio license



The Neue Westfälische reports 13-year-old Justin Bieber DJ5KM is one of
Germanys youngest radio amateurs



Justin, no connection with a singer of the same name, lives in Bielefeld
350 km west of Berlin. He celebrated his 13th birthday on June 20.

Just five days earlier while aged 12, he passed the exam for the Federal
Network Agency Class A license. His previous Class E callsign was DO2JUS
and is equivalent to the UK...

the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters (NZART) request an
amateur radio allocation at 222-223 MHz



The letter says:

The FCC is asking for comment on RM-11767 brought by Expert Linears to
strike the 15dB rule, namely 97.317(a)(2). I urge all to comment and to
also write your Congressional rep. Below is a prototype comment and a
