Scouts Say 'Hello' to the World at International JOTI / JOTA:

Sutton Coldfield East beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers said hello to the
world in an International Jamboree with 1 million Scouts from 150 countries
taking part. Local MP Andrew Mitchell and Cllrs Alex Yip and Terry Wood
were on hand in the morning to chat with the youngsters and discover more
about the Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) and Jamboree on the Air (JOTA)
event.

PANAJI: With Goa playing host to the two-day BRICS 2016 (Brazil Russia
India China South Africa) summit, most people showed keen interest in the
matters discussed. But why should an event of such grandeur be limited to
only the BRICS nations? In an effort to inform people worldwide about the
summit, members of the Goa Radio Amateurs Society set up a ham radio
station at Kala Academy, Panaji, with a special BRICS summit call sign.
Amateur radio is also known as ham radio. The station was on air from
October 10 to 17 and during this period ham operators from the society
established contact with other ham stations from all over the world to
convey the importance of the BRICS summit. "With a meet like BRICS taking
place in Goa, we are helping people around the globe learn more about the
summit. This is our way of celebrating and promoting BRICS in Goa," said
Goa Radio Amateurs Society member Suhas Sahamant.
