The VHF handheld radio model that has been used by the ARISS program to
connect students worldwide with astronauts on board the International Space
Station (ISS) for over 16 years has given an error message and is unusable
at this time

SOTA S2S event growing to be a major event

The SOTA Summit-to-Summit (S2S) event on Saturday 22nd. October 2016 from
0630 - 0830 UTC (announced in a previous Southgate News release), now has
44 summits scheduled to be active, this in 19 different associations across
three continents

The Orionid meteor shower peaks tonight

Earth has entered a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, source of the
annual Orionid meteor shower. Forecasters expect the shower to peak during
the night of Oct. 20-21 with as many as 10-20 meteors per hour
