UBSEDS21 student balloon circumnavigates globe

On December 11 Bristol students launched the UBSED21 high altitude balloon
carrying 434 MHz and APRS transmitters. On December 23 it completed its
first trip around the world

The Irish Radio Transmitters Society have just announced that Irish radio
amateurs can use the WRC-15 band of 5.3515 MHz to 5.3665 MHz with immediate
effect

Interference at the PI2NOS UK receiver eliminated

Last week we posted the message about the new PI2NOS receiver that is
intended specifically for traffic from the United Kingdom. It soon became
clear that this new receiver encountered interference at the input and
therefore was rather limited in its performance. Martijn PD2NLX and Mischa,

Over the past reporting week (December 15-21) solar activity was little
changed from the previous seven days, although on two days (December 16-17)
there were no sunspots. Average daily sunspot numbers declined two points
from 13 to 11, and average daily solar flux bumped up one point to 73.2
